Expertise You Can
Rely On
Every object remembers. A valuation or research commission is how you begin to listen.
Valuation
Whether you are reviewing an insurance policy, settling an estate, or simply seeking clarity on a piece that has been in the family for years, a professional valuation provides the foundation for informed decisions.
Van Pruissen Asian Art offers written valuations for East Asian art — principally Japanese works, as well as Chinese ceramics and related objects — based on current market knowledge, auction records, and over 25 years of specialist experience. Each valuation is carefully considered and documented, with reference to comparable sales where applicable.
Valuation services are available by appointment at the gallery in Arnhem, or remotely based on detailed photographs and condition reports.
Valuations are available for:

Research
Objects that remember do so for a reason. Provenance, attribution, period, maker — these are not merely academic questions.
They are the story of the object, and they shape both its meaning and its value.

Acquisition
The right object is rarely found by accident. It requires patience, knowledge, and access to the right networks — the auction rooms, the private collections, the fellow dealers who know what is quietly available before it ever reaches the market.
Van Pruissen Asian Art offers a dedicated acquisition service for collectors who are building a collection with intention. Whether you are seeking a specific category of East Asian Art, filling a meaningful gap, or simply open to exceptional works as they appear, we search on your behalf with the same rigour we apply to our own inventory. Every proposed acquisition comes with full provenance research and a considered view on condition, quality, and value.
Acquisition searches are undertaken on a retained or ad hoc basis. We welcome conversations from collectors at every stage — those beginning a collection and those refining one built over decades.
Acquisition searches are conducted in confidence. We do not disclose client interests to third parties.

Consignment
Placing a work well requires as much knowledge as acquiring one.
The right buyer, the right moment, the right channel — these decisions shape both the outcome and the experience of letting something go.
Van Pruissen Asian Art offers a considered consignment service for collectors, estates, and institutions wishing to sell works from their collections. Drawing on an extensive network of private buyers, fellow specialists, leading auction houses, museums & institutions, we advise on the most appropriate route for each work and manage the process from initial assessment to final placement.
Where auction is the right path, we provide guidance on house selection, estimate negotiation, and catalogue presentation. Where a private sale better serves the work and the seller, we handle that with equal care.
All consignments are assessed individually. We are happy to discuss single works or entire collections.
Consignment enquiries are handled in complete confidence.
