Yashima Boshu (1925–2001)
Born Yashima Yukio in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture, Yashima Boshu was a distinguished metal artist whose career bridged traditional craftsmanship and modern refinement. He studied under the celebrated Living National Treasure Katori Masahiko (1899–1988), from whom he inherited both a mastery of classical metalworking techniques and a deep respect for the aesthetics of form and proportion.

Yashima’s works were exhibited at numerous Nihon Dento Kogeiten (Japan Traditional Crafts Association) exhibitions, where he garnered several awards for excellence. As a dedicated member of the Japan Art Crafts Association, he also served as a jury member representing the Toyama region, contributing to the preservation and promotion of Japan’s metalworking heritage. His refined craftsmanship and devotion to the discipline continue to resonate as part of the enduring legacy of the Takaoka metalworking tradition.
