Short Description
Rectangular box in plain lacquer (nuri), the lid and sides divided into raised, cushionshaped rectangular panels in a warm orange-red tone, each panel bevelled at the edge and separated by broad bands of black lacquer forming a cross on the lid and matching divisions on the sides. The faceted grid gives the surface a strongly graphic, almost architectural quality. Tomobako inscription: hon urushi shunuri kobako (small box with a genuine red lacquer coating), tomobako signature: Ikoma kobo, with seal (Ikoma studio)
