Short Description
A koro modelled as a resting mandarin duck, its form reduced to a few smooth, swelling volumes. The removable lid forms the upper body. A broad wing sweeps back to a cutaway opening above the tail, and the head is drawn into a single disc framing a raised round eye, with a short beak in a darker tone. The tail is finished in stepped ridges. The interior has a mottled green-brown patina. With the original tomobako, inscribed chudo oshidori koro (cast bronze mandarin duck incense burner), signed Hisayuki/Toshiyuki saku and sealed.
Condition: Very good; minor verdigris spots and light surface scratches, chiefly to the underside
