Short Description
A male golden pheasant in mid-stride, its head lowered and turned slightly forward, the crest swept back into a single sharp blade and the ruff rendered as a flat, flaring plane framing the head. The modelling reduces the bird to a few decisive volumes: the folded wing is indicated by sparse incised lines, and the long tail extends behind in one tapering, gently curving sweep. The slender legs and finely articulated claws give the composition its lightness. The dark brown patina warms to a reddish tone across the breast. Mounted on an oak base. With the original wooden storage box (tomobako), the lid inscribed with the title and the interior signed and sealed by the maker.
