Short Description
A broad, full-shouldered jar of compressed globular form on a low foot, with a short flaring neck rising from a narrow stepped collar. Raised triple ribs run vertically from shoulder to foot and divide the body into six panels. Each panel carries a single interlaced lattice medallion, set on the diagonal and cast in crisp low relief. The surface has an even, finely granular chocolate-brown patina.
Nomin YAMAMOTO was a bronze caster active in the prewar and wartime Showa period. His work is characterised by restrained vessel forms decorated with spare, stylised motifs in low relief, in a distinctly modern idiom.
