About This Work
A hexagonal bronze vase. The low, broad body is pulled out at each of its six corners into a pointed lobe, and each lobe ends in an upturned, tightly curled scroll. A tall, faceted neck rises from the shoulder. Its six ridges continue upward into a flared mouth shaped like an opening flower, with each petal marked by a fine incised line. The vase stands on a low, spreading circular foot. The dark brown patina is enlivened by passages of russet and warm golden brown, and the bronze shows softly through along the ridges of the neck.
Condition: Very good; the base plate secured with solder, light wear to the patina along the edges of the neck, minor verdigris spots inside the mouth and to the underside.
