IRON SUKASHI TSUBA

Japan, Edo period, 18th century

Tatemarugata tsuba from the Akasaka-school with a design of a plum, a gourd, a lattice window and part of the Jesuit-motif (formerly known as Tokei-motif) in yo-sukashi, set within a rounded rim. The seppa-dai with tagane-mei (chisel marks used as a sort of signature).
