442 Tsuba by Omori Terumitsu, Omori School

A fine Edo-period tsuba by Omori Terumitsu, representing the refined metalwork tradition of the Omori School. This iron sukashi tsuba depicts chidori (plovers) flying above gushing waves, executed in iron and gold takazogan and katakiri-bori. Price €2000,-

RARE NANBAN TSUBA

A finely carved nagamaru shaped iron tsuba with a design featuring four images of the Tanjo butsu (birth Buddha) accompanied by two Pixiu, a dragon and a phoenix among scrolling tendrils; all set within a beaded rim. The elongated octagonal seppa-dai (washer plate) is carved with concave lines and flanked by two hitsu-ana, lined with a flat piece of shakudo. Price €1350,-

PAIR OF SUKASHI TSUBA

A pair of or daishō (meaning long and short (sword)) tsuba, constructed of a well forged iron in oval shape (nademaru-gata) and decorated with three round fans with long handles (a type of fan called uchiwa in Japan) in sukashi-bori. Price: € 1.750,-

IRON TSUBA WITH AOI LEAVES

A mokko-shaped iron tsuba with engraved wormholes and hollyhock (aoi) leaves on waves to the centre of the tsuba. Price: € 1.350,-

IRON CHOSU TSUBA

The oval shaped relatively thin but well forged tsuba has a refined decoration of a woven basket filled with chrysanthemum flowers in ji-sukashi and niku-bori. Price: € 1.500,-

SHAKUDO TSUBA

The oval shaped (naga maru gata) shakudo tsuba showing large mountains viewed from a terrace of a Chinese (?) villa. Price: € 2.250,-

MOKKO SHAPED IRON TSUBA

Two cucumber (namako) shaped perforations on the vertical axis; two calabash-shaped perforations on the horizontal axis. Price: € 1.250,-

MOKKO SHAPED YOSHIRO TSUBA

Decorated with diamond-shaped flowers (hanabishi) in flat copper inlay, gilded on one side, and fine tendrils with leaves. Both hitsu ana are filled in with metal. Price: € 1.000,-

Of mokko shape, decorated with four handles (kan) in yo-sukashi. Price: € 550,-

A slightly elongated seppa-dai with tagane-ato (chiseling to the nakago-ano in order to fit a smaller sword). Price: € 350,-

A marugata (round) tsuba. The surface decorated with ginkgo (ichō) leaves, adorned with dew-drops in brass. Price: € 450,-
