Edo period
Signed: Omori Terumitsu ‘Kao’
A fine Edo-period tsuba by Omori Terumitsu, representing the refined metalwork tradition of the Omori School. This iron sukashi tsuba depicts chidori (plovers) flying above gushing waves, executed in iron and gold takazogan and katakiri-bori. The kaku-marugata shape features a square rim and a kozuka hitsu-ana. Fine ko-sukashi openwork and subtle cloud motifs enhance the dynamic design. Some gold inlays have been expertly restored.
