This exquisite late 20th-century Japanese porcelain vase by Tokuda Yasokichi III (born Masahiko), a former Living National Treasure, showcases his innovative saiyū-glaze technique. The elegant, rounded form features a stunning gradient of deep indigo, emerald green, and subtle purple hues, reminiscent of twilight skies or ocean currents. This dynamic use of color, which deliberately omits red, redefined traditional Kutani ware. Tokuda, a third-generation master, transformed Kutani aesthetics through bold experimentation, making color the primary subject. Signed “Kutani Masahiko,” the vase stands 18 cm tall and comes with its original signed tomobako (wooden storage box).
